Working on the Marketing Digital Media software development team requires me to be flexible in how I approach the day; however, I try to begin each day by identifying the “big rocks” from the 7 Habits (by Stephen Covey) training – what do I need to complete today to help our team successfully meet and exceed our stakeholder expectations?
As a Business Analyst for the Arthrex.com, ArthrexVetSystems.com, and other health care professional (HCP) and patient engagement websites, one of the key responsibilities of my role is to make sure business needs and objectives are communicated across various technical teams. My days are usually split between project work, application and site support, and keeping stakeholders informed on work in progress. I like to check emails before heading into the office to answer time-sensitive questions from our global offices to minimize delays in response time due to our different time zones. Mornings are filled with daily team meetings to discuss progress for ongoing projects and key deliverables for the day. Some of my day may be spent adding or updating requested web page content to ensure our sites have the latest information available. I always have an eye on our support channels to ensure our team can act quickly to resolve any issues that may arise.
Hands down, engaging with stakeholders. You can feel the energy when working on a new project or solution focused on Helping Surgeons Treat Their Patients Better™. I also enjoy working on support issues with our internal and external customers. This provides an opportunity to interact with many different types of users and not only resolve reported issues but proactively identify additional areas for improvement.
There have been so many highlights during my time here at Arthrex! I can’t list them all so I will mention just a few.
During the pandemic, Arthrex innovation and leadership mobilized and adjusted how we conducted business. It was amazing to see how quickly teams across the board reacted to create and release the OrthoPedia Web-in-Hours, making it possible to provide an additional educational resource to surgeons when onsite visits were paused. Arthrex also recognized a need and manufactured and donated personal protective equipment (PPE) in the community. #ArthrexProud
I worked with some exceptional team members both internal and external to create of OrthoPedia.com, Anklesprain.com, and others. It is rewarding to see the difference these sites make for surgeons, patients, and external customers.
And last but not least, my participation in the Digital Ecosystem Redesign project. The Marketing Digital Media Software team continues to evolve by using the latest technologies and methodologies. It has been great to see the benefits of implementing a “strangler fig” approach to this project to bring value to our customers sooner with multiple iterative releases and integrating new DER components to our legacy websites.
Arthrex has taught me to be hungry for change. I heard this in a meeting with Arthrex President and Founder Reinhold Schmieding and wrote it on a sticky note that hangs on my computer. It made me think about what it means to be hungry for change, not just accepting change, but making change happen. Even small changes in how we work can have a big impact. This statement has impacted both my professional and personal life.
I love going to the beach on the weekends to relax with a good book. Last year I planned day trips to explore different beaches across Florida. We have some amazing beaches! I like to travel and prefer road trips to flying. To add a little adventure, I’ll seek out the “world’s largest” attractions in the different states I travel through. So far, I have found the world’s largest fork in Missouri, pie pan in Michigan, peanut in Georgia, and beach chair in Texas! My favorite pastime is spending time with my family. My kids are grown now but I try to get us together for a good old-fashion game night when everyone is in town. I’ll play anything, except Monopoly.
